RECRUITMENT PROCESS IN HRM

The future of recruitment

What is recruitment

Recruitment is like going out to find the perfect person for a job. It starts with looking in different places like job postings or asking friends for recommendations. Once we find potential candidates, we talk to them to see if they're a good fit for the job. If they are, we offer them the job and work on getting them settled into the company. It's all about finding the right people to help the company succeed. (SmartRecruiters, 2022)

                                                                                 (Management Adda, 2019)

Process of Recruitment

  1. 1) Identify the Need- Recognize the need for a new employee in the company.

  2. 2) Advertise the Job- Create a job posting and share it through different channels to attract potential candidates.

  3. 3) Screen Applications- Review the received applications and shortlist candidates who meet the basic requirements.

  4. 4) Conduct Interviews- Interview the shortlisted candidates to assess their skills, experience, and fit for the role.

  5. 5) Make an Offer- Select the best candidate and extend a job offer, outlining the terms and conditions of employment.

Recruitment begins by identifying job needs, crafting a job description, and advertising the position. Applications are reviewed, leading to candidate screening and interviews. The best candidate is selected, offered the job, and on boarded for a smooth integration into the company. (Prarthana Gosh, 2023)

Recruitment methods in HRM

Recruitment methods are different ways companies find and hire people for jobs. This could involve posting job ads online, asking current employees for recommendations, or even reaching out to people directly through networking. There are some methods,
  1. Job Boards- Posting job openings on websites like Indeed, LinkedIn, or specialized industry job boards.

  2. Employee Referrals- Asking current employees to recommend candidates for open positions.

  3. Social Media- Sharing job openings on platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter to reach a wider audience.

  4. Recruitment Agencies- Partnering with external agencies that specialize in finding and screening candidates for specific roles.

  5. Networking Events- Attending industry conferences, job fairs, or meetups to connect with potential candidates.

  6. Direct Applications- Accepting applications directly through the company's website or email.

  7. Internship Programs- Hiring interns who can later be converted into full-time employees if they perform well.

  8. University Partnerships- Collaborating with universities to recruit graduates or offer internship programs.

  9. Headhunting- Actively seeking out and approaching potential candidates who are not actively looking for new opportunities.

  10. Employee Development Programs- Promoting from within by identifying and grooming existing employees for higher-level positions. (Adrie Smith, 2023)
